I am licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor. I have been licensed in California since 1982 and currently specialize in individual counseling and psychotherapy for adults. My office is located in Valley Center, CA.
I graduated with a Masters Degree from the State University of New York in 1979, specializing in professional psychology. In addition to practicing psychotherapy, I have taught undergraduate psychology at San Bernardino Valley College and presented workshops for the Elder Hostel (now, Road Scholar) organization. From 1987 onward, I have educated the general public through newspapers, radio and on the web.
My early experience included work in public agencies and as a unit supervisor in an outpatient substance abuse treatment center.
I have extensive experience using several of the experiential psychotherapies with a core training certification in Short-term Dymamic Psychotherapy.
I have been trained in Brainspotting and listed as a providing therapist on the Rocky Mountain Brainspotting Institute (RMBI) website. https://rockymountainbrainspottinginstitute.com/listings/michael-karp/
